This little kimono-style sweater was a simple knit that worked up quickly. Started at the top, it’s knit back and forth until the end of the front wrap section, then overlapped and joined in the round for the remainder of the body. The sleeves are completed once the body is knit. I modified it by adding a simple crocheted trim around the neck edge. The kimono wrap makes a large neck opening for going over a baby head, but lies neatly once it’s on.

The Purelife Cotton made a soft fabric with nice drape. The subtle variations in the colour provide an interesting visual depth to the finished garment. I think I’d like to knit one of these sweaters in my size – lucky for me Jacki Kelly has designed an adult kimono, too!
